For many of our most devoted young fans Cool Science Carnival Day for Kids IS the festival! Carnival Day at UCCS (even though it wasn't called that yet) actually began in 2009, and was such a huge hit that it was a no-brainer when we decided to expand it the following year to create the multi-day celebration of all things STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) that we all enjoy now. This year due to COVID-19 concerns our Carnival Day will be going completely virtual (online).
Highlighting the 2020 virtual lineup is a live-streamed presentation by Ian Miller and Tyler Lyson from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science- "After the Asteroid: Earth's Comeback Story", about their ground breaking discoveries at Corral Bluffs, just east of Colorado Springs, one of the most significant advances in paleontology in decades. Their work was also featured in the recent PBS NOVA special "Rise of the Mammals", and on Carnival Day they will talk to kids and answer questions live.
