Cool Science Live-stream Lab
RSVP Form

Join us every Thursday at 3 pm MDT for a live-streamed hands-on STEM lab for kids in partnership with Concrete Couch.  This week (June 4) we'll be making a grand and glorious mess with Mentos and Soda!  We will experiment with several variations of this popular experiment, and then follow it up with a baking soda and vinegar challenge!  This hands-on lab is ideal for all kid scientists ages 5-14 (younger kids with adult supervision), but space is limited so sign up soon.  This activity page will help you prepare, but here is what you will need to participate:

  • 4 bottles of Diet Coke, or the generic equivalent (any size is fine, but you may want at least 1 2-liter bottle for your biggest explosion!)
  • 1 bottle of other diet soda
  • 1 tube of Mentos
  • 1 container of other candy, so that you can have one handful that is about the same amount as four Mentos
  • Baking soda (about 1/2 cup)
  • Vinegar (about 1/2 cup)
  • Ziplock baggies (quart size)
  • a tablespoon
  • a partner (most of these experiments work better if you have someone to do it with)
