The 2021 Colorado Springs Cool Science Festival Carnival Day at UCCS will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 10 am to 4 pm. This hugely popular event typically attracts over 5,000 attendees and features dozens of demonstration shows, performances, laboratory tours, interactive exhibits and hands-on activities for kids (primarily K-8th grades). Right now it looks like for Carnival Day at UCCS everyone (vaccinated or not) will be required to wear masks inside all buildings and all attendees will be asked to pre-register to provide information in case contact tracing is necessary. If anything changes we will update this page.
Example activity stations from previous Carnival Days include building and launching paper airplanes or rockets, building or controlling robots, making slime, learning to use telescopes or microscopes, meeting animals, experimenting with magnets, generating electricity, excavating fossils, building towers, and much more. Here's the Carnival Day page and map/flyer (1.5 MB PDF) from 2019 for more examples (the 2020 Carnival Day was online/virtual only).
Activity Station Exhibitors typically arrive and begin to set up by 8 am on Carnival Day, must be ready to go by 10 am, and will be expected to stay through the end of the event at 4 pm. Let us know if you need special accommodations for any of this.
Please complete the form below if you would like to present a demonstration, performance, UCCS lab demonstration or tour, or hands-on activity during the 2021 CSCSF Carnival Day at UCCS. If you have any questions before or after submitting the form feel free to contact us. We're always happy to discuss any ideas or concerns you have, and suggest activities or help you if you're not sure what you want to do. We'll follow up soon with more info or if we have additional questions. Thanks.
